This guided outing will bring you in a natural reserve called le Bois des Chênes close to Genolier, on the Jura foothills. It is a 30 minutes drive from the hotel; the reserve includes an integral forest reserve (no intervention allowed since 1960) that is now apparent to an ancestral forest and very interesting to visit and walk through. The area enjoys high levels of biodiversity, is featured with wetlands, extensive pastures and meadows - beautiful in this time of the year, and cows are likely to be pasturing there. The road to the Bois des Chênes will go through splendid agricultural landscapes and small villages with pasturing cows on display.

The very specific geomorphology of the Bois des Chênes finds it roots in the end the last glacier period (some 12’000 BP), with depressions and small hills covered by wild forests with its inhabitants (woodpeckers, owls & birds of prey and other - migrating - bird species, squirrels, deer, roe deer, mountain goats etc.). Groundwater is apparent in some areas with its levels moving regularly, offering beautiful and densely vegetated wet areas & ponds for visitors to enjoy no where else in Switzerland but here.

  • I propose to welcome the guests at the Bois de Chênes parking directly where they can be driven by one of the hotel drivers. The driver shall exit the highway in Nyon

  • Costs: CHF 300.- including drinks and food as described

  • If the conditions make it impossible to go out for safety reasons, we can try to postpone the outing to another date if it is possible for the clients, but a cancellation due to extreme / dangerous weather conditions is possible without any cost if a postponement is impossible in view of the clients stay in Switzerland. On my side, I commit myself to do everything to offer alternative solutions if the conditions do not allow for example to go into the deep forest reserve in case of, e.g., danger of falling trees

Guests shall take good walking shoes and a backpack, some water, personal affairs and clothes adapted to weather conditions (umbrella can be useful in case of rain).
